rommon> mode only

I managed to clear the boot system and now am stuck in rommon mode. there are limited commands there. I was trying to configure the 6500 to go to IOS from a ATA card but the transfer was only 33mb instead of the 52 of the 12.2(18)SXF9 software update. What should I do?

Help needed immediately!

Re: rommon> mode only

Amit,

This was extremely helpful information. I am back online but now I can not read the ATA 64mb card. It was formatted with CatOS and readable. Then I formatted it in Windows and placed the s222*.* file on it so that I could use IOS only but I keep getting error messages--device does not contain valid magic number. I am not able to format it on the SP either--help!

Re: rommon> mode only

I would try some of the show flash: commands to see what it sees in the ATA card (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_command_reference_chapter09186a00800ca742.html#wp1018357) You should be using a Class C filesystem.

I am not sure if the 6500s are overly friendly with FAT16 formatted devices (I assume when you formatted it in Windows it was FAT16). If so, one option might be to get a util for Windows that will zero out every bit on the flash device and you can try to format it in the Sup again.
