Router Fan Failure:

Hello,

Let me throw in this question,i have this 3845 router that is still fairly new and it having fan problems-i thought it was clogged up by dust so i went blowing all the dust out of it but this fan problems just keep coming,how can i resolve this:

If the router is still under warranty I would suggest RMA'ing it (Return Material Authorization).

This definately sounds like a hardware issue which you should get fixed.

Or, if you have a support contract, get someone to repair it.

You will probably have to RMA the chassis back to cisco , hopefully you have a contract or is unser warranty . There is something wrong with the fans , even if its still spinning it is probably drawing too much current and thats whats giving you the error message . Generally I do not believe they replace just the fan on smaller routers like those but I could be wrong haven't had to rma many of those.
