Router WAN interface

Hello,

If someone needs to have 2 x WAN interface in a Cisco Router,

does it usually mean serial interface or there is simply no way to figure out only from this content?

I am confused since WAN interface is a logical concept compared to

physical ports such as Giga Ethernet Interface or Serial Interface.

Thank you in advance

Could be any interface.  Serial, fibre, copper ...

Main thing is the interface(s) must be a routable port.

WAN Interface is not referring to any specific physical interface type or medium. Instead WAN is a logical description of any interface that performs WAN type functionality.

Correct, absolutely zero way to tell from that statement alone.

"I am confused since WAN interface is a logical concept compared to physical ports such as Giga Ethernet Interface or Serial Interface."

You are correct.

Most likely meaning of 2 x WAN interfaces would be two interfaces that support typical WAN links, e.g. dedicated T1/E1, ISDN, frame-relay, ATM, POS, etc.

Today, most modern Cisco router's WAN interfaces tend to be modular, so you can select the "right" WAN interface.
