Hi all, my network sits on a 10.0.0.0/8 address, we have put a route on our route to another 10.3.55.0/24 address, our pc's can ping this fine ? how come this is, I would expect my pc to look local rather than go the the default gateway ?

Re: routing from a /8 address

If I am reading this correctly...

The PC is going to arp for the 10.3.55.0 address on the 10.0.0.0 network. Since the router is part of the 10.0.0.0 network, it will hear the arp request. The router has a route to the 10.3.55.0 address and therefore, will reply to the arp request for the 10.3.55.0 node with it's own MAC address. It will then forward the ping packets for you to the 10.3.55.0 node.
