routing problem

i have 2 routers

r1-fa 0/0-ip address -


192.168.1.1

r2fa 0/1-ip address------192.168.2.1

i have connected them by fast ethernet .

can i ping them?

Then they shouldn't be able to ping since they're in different subnets. The /24 mask means they have to have the same first three octets to be on the same subnet, and in your case they don't. Do I misunderstand the question?

You would not be able to ping. They should belong to the same subnet in order to ping based on your response of being the mask as /24 it wouldnt work.

If you had a mask of /16, /17, /18, /19, /20, /21, /22 or /23 then yes
