RSM CAT5509 IOS Upgrade

Hi,

I will be upgrading IOS image on RSM Cat5509 from 11.2 version to 12.2 . Do i also need to upgrade bootloader image?

also what is the significance of bootloader image in the boot process?

I don't believe you have to but it probably wouldn't hurt seeing the bootloader is so old . The bootloader is like a mini IOS that loads if for some reason the main image doesn't load.It gives you a lot more flexibility in recovering the box instead of it booting into rommon .
