I'm trying to find out some information about the factors which influence RSTP convergence times. For example, given two (more or less) identical topologies why would spanning tree sometimes converge quickly (<1s) and other times slowly (1-5s).
I would imagine switch CPU, link bandwidth, and such like *may* affect convergence times (I even read that number of vlans is a factor) but has anyone done any testing in this area that they could share?
