Hi every body!

My book says in rstp, switch generate bpdu every hello time regardless of it receives bpdu from root or not.

please consider the following scenario.

Let say switch Sw2 misses one bpdu from root. Will this cause sw2 to generate inferior bpdu ? or switch2 waits for 6 seconds before generating a inferior bpdu?

Hello Sarah,

the second it waits three hello times before claiming to be the new root bridge.

Missing a single BPDU can happen, missing three in a row can be a sign of problem.
