Secondary SUP CAT 6500

currently we have cat 6506 in our network with single SUP2

now we planned to put secondary SUP on the slot 2

once we inserted secondary SUP2 module with same IOS and model it went to STANDBY COLD state

we configured the primary SUP redunanacy mode as RPR+ and Same as Secondary

but why it says below details

why Operating Redundancy Mode = rpr

Hello Vinoth,

my guess is that something has gone wrong in communication between the two supervisors you should try to reset the standby supervisor.

>> Standby failures = 1

you can also look at log buffer for redundancy messages.

the standby sup could be too slow in coming up and/or it was stopped by active sup.

Yes,

we intially put the secodary SUP and we seen same issue it went ot STANDBY COLD so we removed and tested with the Standby CAT 6500 and found no issue with the IOS and booting image so again we inserted the SUP still the same
