sh process cpu history and sh process cpu sort

Hi,

I've got a problem with a 2960 : average cpu utilization of 50%. I can see the 50% load with this command : sh process cpu history but when I enter sh process CPU sort (5sec, 1min or 5min). I cannot see which process is loading the CPU. I don't understand why.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Re: sh process cpu history and sh process cpu sort

Hello Chris,

probably most of cpu resources are used by SW interrupts look at the second number in 5 sec stats

sh proc cpu

CPU utilization for five seconds: 5%/0%; one minute: 6%; five minutes: 6%

PID Runtime(ms)   Invoked      uSecs   5Sec   1Min   5Min TTY Process

the bolded figure refers to SW interrupts

Hope to help

Re: sh process cpu history and sh process cpu sort

Guiseppe,

Yes this is an interrupt problem, but if I add up the process percentage, I'm far from 50%

This the result of sh process cpu sort :

CPU utilization for five seconds: 7%/1%; one minute: 42%; five minutes: 49%
PID Runtime(ms)   Invoked      uSecs   5Sec   1Min   5Min TTY Process
  96       39974      8447       4732  0.49%  0.47%  0.47%   0 hpm counter proc
  58       13245     31017        427  0.39%  0.20%  0.13%   0 RedEarth Tx Mana
254          26       119        218  0.19%  0.03%  0.00%   1 Virtual Exec
  10       24261    139934        173  0.09%  0.17%  0.26%   0 ARP Input
131        8927      1722       5184  0.09%  0.09%  0.09%   0 HQM Stack Proces
   6           0         2          0  0.00%  0.00%  0.00%   0 Timers
   5           0         1          0  0.00%  0.00%  0.00%   0 Pool Manager
   8       14108       143      98657  0.00%  0.16%  0.12%   0 Licensing Auto U
   4       12557      1314       9556  0.00%  0.12%  0.11%   0 Check heaps
   7           0         1          0  0.00%  0.00%  0.00%   0 License Client N
   9           0         1          0  0.00%  0.00%  0.00%   0 Image License br

I really don't understand : five minutes 49%, but I can't see any process in the 5Min column eating more than 0,5% (same with sh cpu process cpu sort 5min)
