I was wondering if there is a simmilar command to: show inter link (4500 series switch). on eg. 3560 & 3750 switch.

I want to know when a port was last used.

Not that I know of and I think a lot of people would like that feature in all their switches. I also would like the same function in the 4500 and 6500 as say a 3750 or a 2960 which is the "show controllers utilization " command . This gives you an instant look at the utilization percentage on all ports along with the switch fabric utilization . Very useful but they don't put it in their modular boxes , might be a hardware restriction but it would be nice to have an equivalent for the modular boxes.

That was what I was afraid of. But thanks anyway.

Hi

If I do a sh interface I get this line:

Last input 20w3d, output 15w2d, output hang never

Dos that mean that this port has not been used for 15 weeks and 2 days OR 20 weeks and 3 days?

sh inter Fa2/0/38

FastEthernet2/0/38 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)

Hardware is Fast Ethernet, address is 0015.628a.a62a (bia 0015.628a.a62a)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

Auto-duplex, Auto-speed, media type is 10/100BaseTX

input flow-control is off, output flow-control is unsupported

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input 20w3d, output 15w2d, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)

5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

50233527 packets input, 2371578516 bytes, 0 no buffer

Received 15384 broadcasts (0 multicast)

0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

0 watchdog, 8918 multicast, 0 pause input

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

302544533 packets output, 1153315120 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets

0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

clearly that interface didnt got any input traffic since 20 week 3 days and didnt send anything from it till 15 week 2 days,or not used till these period for each direction..

These counter is updated only when packets are process switched, not when packets are fast switched.
