show mls qos interface g1/0/1 statistics [C3750]

Hi,

Is the command "show mls qos interface statistics" showing dscp packets marked by the switch itself?

If you look at the output of this command you can see incremented counters for "dscp incoming" packets, but I expect to receive only cos marked frames. Can the dscp incoming values include frames remarked by this switch or maybe switch receiving already marked frames with cos and packets with dscp?

Thanks

Darren

The incoming counters show the values as the frames hit the switch before it reclassifies (or not) the traffic.

If the frames contain IP traffic then they have a DSCP value which is why you see DSCP counters getting incremented.

Thanks sridsdale,

This is a trunk port and I thought that switch does not looking into the packets just L2 frame markings in that case.

Just to clarify, that would mean that if I have only IP traffic I can mark traffic on the trunk port with the L3 access lists and packets in each vlan will get dscp markings?

Thanks

Darren

You can use any standard or extended access list to classify the traffic on a port, trunk or not, so layer 4 attributes in access lists are good also.

Rgds.
