Show mls stat on VS-S720-10G

Hi,

we build with two VS-S720-10G a vss cluster. (IOS 12.2.18sxi1)

with the command "sh mls stat" we see the following output

We want to understand the meaning from that output

Could someone explain the Counters

Re: Show mls stat on VS-S720-10G

Hello Stephan,

the show presents the statistics for multilayer switching activity on the VSS node.

the meaning of the different counters should be the following:

total packets processed: total number of packets processed including L2 switching and L3 switching.

Total packets L3 Switched : packets that required a L3 action = packet rewrite moved from one vlan to another = routed packets

Total Packets Bridged: L2 frames moved within a single Vlan; frames are left unmodified (transparently bridged)

Total Packets FIB Switched:

of all L3 processed packets this number says how many have been processed by CEF FIB table in your case all L3 packets-1

FIB tables = CEF Forwarding Information Base tables

this is good means CEF based MLS is working well.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
