Hi ,
The Switch TopN Reports utility collects the following data for each physical port:
Port utilization (util)
Number of in/out bytes (bytes)
Number of in/out packets (pkts)
Number of in/out broadcast packets (bcst)
Number of in/out multicast packets (mcst)
Number of in errors (in-errors)
Number of buffer-overflow errors (buf-ovflw)
here overflow means buffer-overflow.
below link has sh top commands with explanation

Hope this helps you.

Thanks, so do I undestand it correctly that it is a number of buffer overflow errors, but it does not give an amount of overflow in bits, bytes, packets, etc?

Hi ,
Overflow means that the switch port buffers have filled up and the switch had to drop
these packets. This could be a sign that the port is running at an inferior speed and/or
duplex due to speed/duplex mis-match.
On a stable port we should not see overflow at all.
Thanks,
satish

Thank you for your response. This is a GIG port I am spanning whole VLAN into so speed and duplex mismatch will no apply. I was looking into that to determine how much data I do loose due to the buffer overflow. It seems that show top does not give that kind of information.
