Single Mac-Address in multiple vlans

Hi all,

NDA-AF4S04#sh mac address-table | include 5b00

  1    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

   3    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

  12    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

  97    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

  98    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

  99    6892.3429.5b00    DYNAMIC     Fa0/4

as per above log, mac address - 6892.3429.5b00 is showing in Multiple VLANs.

kindly describe me that how can it be possible.

Single Mac-Address in multiple vlans

I'm not sure what owns that mac address, however this can be normal with a device that has L3 interface on multiple vlans...example would be a switch with many SVIs.  We can safely re-use mac addresses in each vlan as they only need to be unique in each vlan.

Otherwise you could be bridging the vlans somewhere.
