Hi,

I'm looking for switches that support single mode fiber connections and would like to know if "WS-C3750-FS-S Catalyst 3750 24 100BaseFX + 2 SFP" and "WS-C3750G-12S-S Catalyst 3750 12 SFP" can serve the purpose?

Thanks!

Thanks Naidu.

Do I need the appropriate SFP modules? Will the "WS-C3750-FS-S Catalyst 3750 24 100BaseFX + 2 SFP" also works with single mode fiber?

Best Regards,

Both switches Can handle single-mode SFP's.

Do you really want to get those models?  The 3750 and 3750G are end-of-sale.  Your next step is to get the 3750X.

Thanks Jorgensen, Leo,

Is WS-C3750X-12S-S a viable alternative for the 3750 & 3750G models mentioned above?

Can the 1000Base SFP module work with 100Base network device?

Best Regards

Is WS-C3750X-12S-S a viable alternative for the 3750 & 3750G models mentioned above?

The 3750 and 3750G has been superseded by the newer model, the 3750X.  One of the main reason why the haste to promote the EoS of the 3750 and the 3750G is the "universal" IOS.

Can the 1000Base SFP module work with 100Base network device?

Check out the two links below:

Cisco 100BASE-FX SFP Fast Ethernet Interface Converter on Gigabit SFP Ports

Cisco Catalyst 3750-X and 3560-X Series Switches Data Sheet

Look under Table 12:

100BASE-FX, 1000BASE-SX, -LX/LH, -ZX, -BX10, DWDM and CWDM SFP Transceivers: LC fiber connectors (single-mode or multimode fiber).

Basically, the 1Gbps SFP will operate in 1Gbps only and won't negotiate to anything lower than that.  If you need 100BaseFx then you need to look at the 100BaseFX SFP.

Thanks for the ratings.
