single switch port with fixed IP address to the end-uesr's PC

Hello,

I have installed the cisco 3560 switch to one of our customer as L3 core. The network is based on windowss 2003 AD configured with DHCP server. The client requirement is that whenever the end-uesr PCs are connected to any of the access ports the user should get the same IP address always from the same access port.My understanding is that the L2 MAC would be different according to the PCs connected but the L3 IP should be the same IPaddress.

How can we configure the switch with which commend option to support this feature?

Thanks

Swami

Re: single switch port with fixed IP address to the end-uesr's P

Hi,

From my understanding IP address will be released in co-ordination with MAC address.and lease will be given for each machine in this case.

The access port is not going to play any role in that i.e consider if A is connecting to Port1 and getting IP X.X.X.X. and in future if B is connecting to same port1 and he will not be getting X.X.X.X. ( because X.X.X.X address mapping has been done with A's MAC address ).
