Small Business Switches Models

i cann't understand the meaning of small businees switches

for example , there is a Tender requiring Switch 24 port & 56 Gbps Throughput

i found that comapnies offered Cisco 2960X  ,    not sure what not to use   " SG300-28 "  , This will give  therequired throughput

why Samml businees models are not used like other models ?  here the Model "SG300-28" is non-blocking so will provide same function of 2960X ???

Small Business Switches Models

Hi,

Mainly it depends on your network requirements and what they can affort to spend on equipment that is why they are call small business since they are desing for small networks and do not have the full capabilities that a catalyst could provide.

Also there are a lot differences between small business and the regular catalyts switches. For example you could take a look at the datasheet of both switches to tell the difference & to tell why 2960 is advanced than SGE.

SMB switch Datasheet

2960 Datasheet:

Hope this helps.
