Smart Install Backup

Hi,

I try to set up a Cisco smart install in a layered network (Core L3 - L3 Distribution L2 - L2 Access) for backup purposes. I have tested the vstack backup feature in various setups but up to now I was only able to make it work when the access switches to be replaced are directly connected and the director is located on one of the distribution switches. I tried built-in groups, custom groups with PID and connectivity but nothing really helped.

Did anybody find a way to allow Smart Install switch replacement in a config where the director is not directly connected to the switch that is replaced?

Any hints are welcome. Thanks.

Mat

Re: Smart Install Backup

Sorry Ganesh,

I read the document and tried out all the hints that I could get out of it. It did not help for my situation. It is not covering any topolgical aspects of Smart Install nor does it give any insights how the backup process really works. I guess the only way is to reverse engineer the thing.

Kind regards

Mat
