SPAN/Monitoring Destination port behaviour - 2960 LAN base image

Hello,

In s SPAN session , normally the destination prt is used for monitoring purpose only.

But could destination port be used to access the equipement or PC connected to that port , for a 2960 LAN BASE image  switch ?

thanks.

Hi,

The destination can be a network analyzer or sniffer.  For example; you can have a source port of 10 and a destination port of 20 where the network analyzer attaches to capture the traffic from port 10.

No, you can't remotely reach the device attached to the destination SPAN port.

You could have another NIC installed and perhaps reach the station, worth testing...
