Spanning tree mode

Currently, my network is running on Rapid PVST+. I need to change it to PVST+ mode due to corporate compliance issues.

Does anyone knows if there will be downtime changing from Rapid PVST to PVST?

Should the change be from core to access layer or vice versa?

Re: Spanning tree mode

In the past I had to do the same once on a fairly large redundant network. For what I remember this went virtually without any problems. We changed the core switches first and the access layer after that.

To reduce the risk of any stp topology changes you may consider to alter the critical devices early in the morning or after workhours.

Leo
