can anyone tell me how I find the root bridge in my network, and what the cost of each kind of link is, ie ethernet/gigabit etc

show spanning vlan . The root switch will state so.

VLAN0001

Spanning tree enabled protocol ieee

Root ID Priority 4097

This bridge is the root

Hello Time 2 sec Max Age 20 sec Forward Delay 15 sec

Aging Time 300
