Speed VS Bandwith

Hi Guys,

AS100-R1(config-if)#bandwidth ?

  <1-10000000>  Bandwidth in kilobits

inherit       Specify that bandwidth is inherited

  receive       Specify receive-side bandwidth

AS100-R1(config-if)#speed ?

  10    Force 10 Mbps operation

  100   Force 100 Mbps operation

  auto  Enable AUTO speed configuration

What is the difference between Speed and bandwidth command at the interface level?

Re: Speed VS Bandwith

Hello,

Bandwidth is used to reference for calculation things such as routing protocols, output of show commands.

Speed is used to tell the interface to send actual packets at the rate you configured. Such as 10 Mbps is what the swicth can send 10Megabit per second.

HTH,

Toshi
