SPF Ports and WS-C4503-E question.

If I am purchasing a 24 port spf switch card to up link to access switches, does that mean that I can only up link to 12 switches (one port for sending, the other for receiving)? or can I uplink ot 24.

Also is a supervisor controller card REQUIRED?

  No each port is bidirectional. You can add 24 switches if need be .   Not sure what you mean by supervisor controller card, all switches must have a supervisor in them .

Line card will support 24 connections. Sfp is a LC connection with both send and receive in one module.
