Hi,
I have C3548-XL and C3508G-XL switches in my network. Would they support SSH for CLI login? They currently have IOS Version 12.0(5)WC13 in them. Please suggest.

If the image in the switches supports encryption then they should support SSH access. We can not tell from what you posted whether the switches do support encryption or not. It is a function of which feature set they are running more than a question of what version they are running. If you would post the output of show versions from the switches we could tell which feature set is running.

Your version is not SSH capable, so you should to upgrade your IOS to IP Base With Encryption : c2801-ipbasek9-mz.
You can take a look on this page :

Plz rate if it helped.

Ok I'm confused you asked about 3500 switch images and then you post a show version for a 2800 router . Routers will usually have a k9 or k2 in the image version if they suypport SSH.

Theres defintiely a way of finding out by examinign th enomenclature of the file name.
However, as a quick and dirty test, just try ebtering the following commands to enable SSH.
ip ssh
crypto key generate rsa
If they work, then the IOS supports SSH. if not, .....

The 3500XL Series switches do not support ssh at all. Since these switches are End Of Life, there won't be future software for them either. If you require secure access to these older devices, because of something like audit requirements - the best way (without replacing the switch) is to use a console server (like a Cyclades) that supports ssh, which would then connect to the serial console port of each switch.
