Re: stacking c2975

The 2975 stacks just like a 3750 with stacking cables in the back . Personally I didn't even know this model existed , thought they only had 2960's . Will have to keep this in mind if we only need a layer 2 switch install .

Re: stacking c2975

Hi Carl,

switch 1 priority 15

Translate to: The first switch on the stack has the highest priority (15) and will always be the master.

Default is 1.

Re: stacking c2975

do people normally configure there stacks manually? Is there anyway from the LED's on the switch you can find out which is master?

what are the recommended configs for stacking the switches ?

cheers

Hi Carl

If you read my post in your last question regarding stacking, you will see the election process.

There are LED's which tell you the which is master

This link gives more details on the LED's

Re: stacking c2975

They have pretty much ported the 3750 switch stacking code to the 2975 layer 2 switch . Election and priority setting appears to be pretty much the same.

Re: stacking c2975

I don't know with other people but I DO. It saves me alot of troubleshooting time when I know the order of the switch from top to bottom.

I also like to power up the stack (for the first time) one at a time so the switches can be stacked according to my order of preference.
