Putting them on different VLAN will secure the devices from seeing each at on the data link layer. They will not be able to ARP or see MAC broadcasts.
Well, one of the central purpases of vlan is to device a switch so that you can segregate devices that are on different subnets but that are not separated by a router. You see, when devices are in the same vlan they can do MAC broadcast to each other but when they are on different vlan they have to communicate with each using layer 3 devices.
