Hi I am setting up a network for a company and they are interested in having 4 subnetworks spread throughout the office floor. I plan to come into the building and into a router. I want to feed this off onto 4 other switches capable of virtual lans. What switches would you suggest using for this. I am wanting to have about - 15 - 25 ports per switch. Can anyone help?

If you want manageable L2 switches then 2960's would probably fit the bill .

Hi, When you design a network two things are very important to decide what switches or router to use. Growth of the network and bandwidth requirements. If the network wont be growing soon, you can use vlans to separate the user and your router can route any inter vlan traffic, by doing this you can reduce the number of switches you purchase. If you go with a 2600 model they come with 8, 24 or 48 ports from your posting I would go with two 48 port switches. read the link below for more information.
