SUP2 vs. SUP720 - Performance Figures

Hi !

I looked for Performance Figures about those Supervisor Engines 2 and 720.

720 Gbps, 30Mpps sounds good.

But I did NOT find any result for L3 Forwarding ? Which throughput, concurrent Sessions .... can I expect when it`s also used for Routing (L3 Forwarding).

I know it depends on ACLs, Policies, QoS...but is there any number I could base my calculations on??

cheers

Hans

Hans,

Sup720 supports upto 400 Mpps IPv4 and 200 Mpps IPv6 with dCEF that means you ned DFC's on the line cards for that performance. If no DFC's your overall system perofrmance will be 30Mpps.

Re: SUP2 vs. SUP720 - Performance Figures

Hi !

thanks ! but do you have any estimation about throughput ?

how to convert Mpps to Gbit/s ..

f.e.: we know that we will expect 4Gbit/s overall throughput - but we do NOT have any

estimation about how much Mpps that is.

thx

hans
