SUP2T no power

Hello,

I have a 6506E chassis that I am upgrading to a pair of SUP2Ts.  When I shutdown the chassis and install the SUP2T they never power up.  I dont get any status lights or anything.

On the 1st chassis I upgraded we had no problems and so I "borrowed" a known working SUP2T and tried it in that 2nd chassis with the same result (no power to the SUP2T).

I put the SUP720-3Bs back into the chassis and they boot up without a hitch.  There is no messages from the SUP2T console connection or anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

SUP2T no power

Could be DOA.  You may need to RMA it if the supervisor card doesn't power up (but the fan does).

SUP2T no power

Except I put a "known working" SUP2T in and it fails to power up too.  So its not likely the SUP module and why would the SUP720-3B power up without any problems?

What power supply do you have in the chassis ie.

sup720 needs 2500W minimum

sup2T needs 3000W minimum

Re: SUP2T no power

I have a pair of 2500W in both Chassis.  The two 2500W power all my current modules except one and the SUP2T from the 1st chassis without an issue.  I have four 6000W power supplies on the way already so if that fixes it then great.

SUP2T no power

Sorry, my mistake. I was looking at current specs sheet and it say a minimum of 3000W because the 2500W is no longer for sale

Only thing i can think of is the connectors in the physical chassis as in the sup2T is having a problem being seated properly but that is really just a guess.

Try putting the power mode as combined and see if it will power up, if so then you know the power supplies are inadequate.

Re: SUP2T no power

There is no way of doing that.  I have no console or anything.

Well we tried to install the

Well we tried to install the SUP2T again yesterday and they worked.  Exact same procedure as before but this time they decided to power up.

Very odd.
