greetings,

I have upgtraded the IOS on this 6506 but it did not boot from the upgraded IOS.

so, I followed the error messages and upgraded the ROMMON to the latest and it was successful as well. here is what I had before the ROMMON Upgrade:

bdr2-ash#show rom-monitor slot 6 sp

Region F1: INVALID

Region F2: INVALID

Currently running ROMMON from S (Gold) region

but I have the blow statemnet aftet the ROMMON upgarde:

bdr2-ash# show rom-monitor slot 6 sp

Region F1: APPROVED, preferred

Region F2: INVALID

Currently running ROMMON from F1 region

and still I cannot see the upgarded IOS although it is sitting in the flash. I have attached show version and bootvar output as text files for your attention please.

at boot up I get the following error as well:

monlib.open(): Open Error = -9

loadprog: error - on file open

boot: cannot load "bootflash:s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD7b"

Please advise if you know resolution to this problem as it has made my life a hell since this router must go into production in one day at the edge and do a lots of processingm BGP, EIGRP, ACLs, etc and you kno wthe rest!

Regards,

Masood

Can you answer the following queries:

1) Whats the past image that was working previously?

2) Whats the new image that you are planning to upgrade?

3) Was there any hardware change during this upgrade, preferably did you change the SUP module?

4) Can you provide the show module output?

I will provide thos informtion as I have them saved.

we have changed the SUP since it was acting up even after I upgraded the ROMMON to the latest.

this was a very strenge problem and I have see a lots of postings with regards to this same issue.

Thx,

Masood

Try this command

Boot System Flash:/s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD7b

then reload switch

thanks.

would this include the "/" right before the file name?

Thx,

Masood
