Hi Everyone,

Need to confirm if switches below

Cisco WS-C3560G-48PS-S Catalyst 35600G 48PT 10/100/1000T 4 SFP

or

Cisco WS-C3750G-24TS-S Catalyst Switch 4 x SFP

Do they support IPSEC VPN?

Regards

MAhesh

Dear Leo,

What if the switch is an L3  and routing is configured ?

Mahesh,

What I can understand is you may need specific IOS versions and licenses from cisco for this.

If you want to do IPSec then you'll need to have a router, a VPN appliance or a firewall.

Hi Leo,

I have 3550 switch which has ipsec tunnel to cisco 1811 router.

So thats why i was curious if it this switch can also support ipsec?

Regards

MAhesh

Switches are Layer 2-only.  They don't understand what IPSec.

Only routers, VPN appliances and firewalls understand what IPSec and IP Sec runs between these three.

If you mean do they support IPSec VPN termination, no they do not.

If you mean will they forward IPSec VPN packets, they do.
