switch access lists

Is there anyway to implement an access list on a cisco switch (both CatOS and IOS), not using a MSFC card? I know CatOS can do a limited access list for like telnet, ssh, snmp (and one other i think) but IOS I cant tell if can or not just by looking at the documentation. I mean since the switch is layer 2 it shouldnt even be controlling ip traffic.

However, if there is anyway I can set up an access list I would be glad to hear suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Friend,

Yes layer 2 switches like 2950 does support ACLs but yes there are some limitations. You can have a look at this link

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/release/12.1_22_ea2/configuration/guide/swacl.html

All layer 3 switches like 3550 and above does supports ACLs.
