Switch stack Current State stuck in Provisioned

I have a stack of 8 Cisco 3750 Switches.  I went to add a 9th switch to the stack today, which I have added switch to live stacks many of times.

I unplugged the stacking cable from the bottom stack to insert the new switch stacking cable once I did this Solarwinds Orion Network Performance monitor reported the stack as being down.  The stack did not power off, or reboot and none of the users lost connectivity.  I was able to plug into the stack and ping devices and had connectivity.  Did lose vlan management connectivity because the vlan interface was on a switch that is show Current State Provisioned.

From the state of the the output you've posted, I can assume the following:

1.  Stacking cables are not properly seated or s crewed in;

2.  Faulty stacking cable; or

3.  Faulty stacking port(s)

Oh, and one more thing ... NINE (9)????  Holy-cwap-Batman!  I've made it a point never to exceed seven (7) in a stack.

Rebooted the stack and its back to normal. I think the problem was that Switch 8 was the master, I assumed switch 1 was

the master, but who knows.
