Switch to Firewall

When issued show arp from L3 switch am not able to see the ip to mac mapping

but when issued from firewall am able to see the ip to mac mapping. Then i have to check on L3 to find the mac to int mapping. Is it because the mac add of server whcih am trying to see is connected to firewall and then to L3.

Re: Switch to Firewall

Hi Friend,

I think the server is having the firewall as gateway.

The switch will have the ARP entry only when it receives an ARP request from the server.

To get the ARP entry, you can ping the server from the switch once and then try the sh ip arp command

HTH, rate if it does
