Hi,
Is there a way to change interface numbers on a 3750 stack but, still retain the config of the physical port?
For instance:
I would like to take the top switch, which has the ports numbered g2/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g1/0/1 - 52. And the bottom switch, which has ports numbered g1/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g2/0/1 - 52. Basically, just swap the interface numbers but, not effect any interface configurations.
Thanks, Pat.

No you cannot
The config is a file in NVRAM which holds port specific config. When you change the switch number, you change the physical arrangement of the switch (think of it as a module in a stack). In your case SW1 changed to 2 is making SW1 module 2 in the stack.
When you change the Switch number, you need to reboot the switch and the config file is applied after the stack is built (module number is assigned)

Hi Patrick,
No you cannot.
You can easily re-load the config with the new stacking numbers.
1. Download the config to a TXT file.
2. Use Notpad and perform a find-and-replace (Ctrl+H) to replace the port interfaces into the one you want.
3. Renumber the stack
4. Upload the config.
