Switching / routing issue

Hi Gentlemen,

                     Need your advise.

Outline

  • •-          L2 switches with default GW 10.3 to FW VRRP
  • •-          Trunk each other with default VLAN 1 for all the ports except trunk port Gi0/2
  • •-          Physically connected to 10.56 SVR and 10.55 SVR

Problem

  • •-          When 10.55 ping to 10.56, no response .
  • •-          So 10.56 ping to 10.1 ( FW interface ) .
  • •-          Then only 10.55 can ping to 10.56 only.
  • •-          Same thing applies for 10.56 as well.

Question

  • •-          Since 2 switches are trunk each other and can ping the mgt IP , and 2 SVR are physically

Connected to each switch, the traffic should not go through GW 10.1 ( or ) 10.3 .

-     What could be issue ? Due to L2 or L3 ? I think L2 ?

Thanks.

Switching / routing issue

Hi Nay,

My understanding on your setup is that all the equipments involved ( the two SRVs and the 2 Checkpoint nodes ) are on the same VLAN. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If this is the case, there is no routing involved, and the traffic between the SRVs is direct.

My assmuption is that the 10.56 has the firewall enabled.

Regards

Dan
