T_SAP addressing

Hi all, has anyone heard of this, if so can it be routed ?

What is the context?

TSAPs are common terminology in ISO transport (a king of equivalent to TCP) where they do a similar job similar to TCP ports. Routable depends - The use of ISO L3 is optional - without it it would need to be bridged, with it you would use ISIS. ISO CLNS is also used as DECNET phase V IIRC.

Hi there, is this old technology? we have machines in our factory that use this ISO transport, they connect via ethernet, do they use mac addresses still? and can route it ?

Not that old. Are you sure it is ISO? the most common uses are DEC machines and ICL/Fujitsu mainframes.

If they are using ISO, it is possible to route it, but it depends upon how ann the end systems are set up. Look at ISIS and CLNS for info on routing it.

Unfortunately, the ICL implementations tend to use no Layer three, so it would have to be bridged, or the end systems reconfigured.
