Tagging VLAN to a trunk port?

I saw this configuration in one of our switch port, but nobody knows why?

!

interface FastEthernet0/43

switchport access vlan 2

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

speed 100

duplex full

no cdp enable

end

As far as we know it works as a trunk port, but is there any difference that this could make?

Hi Vsubbu,

It is a trunk port . "switchport access vlan 2" will not make any difference.

Usually, the 'access vlan' is entered as a fall-back Vlan in case the trunk fails for some unknown reason.

On this case, you stated the trunk is functional, therefore the command isn't doing anything.

Saju & Edison,

Thanks for your comments.
