tcp syn's and acks

Hi all

can anyone remind me how the seq/syn/acks work in tcp

the client sends a syn with seq 1, the server sends back a syn ack with the value for the next seq which will be 2, then the host replies back with ack 2?

Can anyone please tell me the proper process briefly?
