Telnet issue to cisco 2960 switch

I have a cisco 2960 switch.

I can ping this switch without any loss.

No issue in connectivity. when the telnet command is issued it telnets the switch and ask the telnet password. But when I am typing the password i get disconnected automatically.

Please help to solve this.

Do you have the basic telnet config

2960#config t

2960(config)#line vty 0 4

2960(config-line)#password xxxxx

2960(config-line)#login

If its there make sure that there isnt any device using the same ip as switch

While you are at it set your enable secret password also .

I think it's problem related to ip conflict

Please check the change the switch ip and check again
