Telnet protocol uses default gateway?

Hello, someone told me if you Telnet in to a layer 3 switch, it will need to be configured with the "default gateway x.x.x.x" command.

Even if you have the command "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0  x.x.x.x", Telnet will not use this.

Instead Telnet only uses the "default gateway x.x.x.x" command to route telnet back to the telnet originator.

Is this correct ?

Thanks for any clarification.

if your client computer is in

if your client computer is in the same subnet so you do not need "default gateway x.x.x.x" command and you do not need command "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0  x.x.x.x"

if your client computer is NOT in the same subnet so for 3750 layer 3 switch you do  need command "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0  x.x.x.x" and "ip routing".

3750 layer 3 switch not accepts command "default gateway x.x.x.x"  after  "ip routing"

Hello

@ ttemirgaliyev         "3750 layer 3 switch not accepts command "default gateway x.x.x.x"  after  "ip routing"

I have to disagree  - the switch WILL accept the ip default-gateway command however it the WILL be ignored as long as ip routing is enabled
