I know cisco can source an ICMP ping packet from a router and my question is can Cisco source a Telnet session IP? For example our firewall folks made rules for specific IP addresses to allow Telnet to devices behind the firewalls. Seems when I Telnet to the allowed IP on a router which happens to be the Loopback0 interface the firewall sees a physical interface on the router attempting access.
Yes, you can source a telnet from the router itself. You have to go ahead and put the IP in the priviledge mode of the device that you want to telnet into and you will be able to get to it. Router will take any source IP from its one of the out going interface though which the detination device/subnet is reachable.
