Telnet/ssh access to ME3400 Open, but no Prompts

Hi,

I am installing 2 new ME3400 switches at a remote site. When telnet/ssh from HQ either a 3845 router or a 3750 switch, I get the session Open, but can see no prompts for username and password. I can type but no response from the switch. After a while, I get

[Connection to 202.162.176.112 closed by foreign host]

____________________________________

telnet 202.162.176.112
Trying 202.162.176.112 ... Open

Here is the connection in a chain: 3845 router--3750 switch------FIBER-------ME3400----ME3400. No ACL is in use.

Nevertheless,

1. I can telnet each other between the 2 ME switches, which proves the line vty is correctly configured;

2. When I telnet/ssh from the router and get the Open, 'show tcp' shows the telnet session is established between the correct ports:

67B7CB34 202.162.176.113.30404 202.162.176.112.23 ESTAB

3. Sniffer also captured the telnet traffic between the router and the ME switch, which proves no packet gets lost in the return path;

4. I can telnet from the ME switch to router and 3750 switch.

It looks like the router does not display what the ME switch send back. From the router, I can telnet to mony other routers in the netwok, though.

ME switch line config is as follows:

Any advice is appreciated.
