Terminal Length Issue

Hi,

I have a 2821 router running IOS:

System image file is "flash:/c2800nm-adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-3g.bin"

The issue is that the terminal length is always 0 and if manually set it for example to 24, it is only good for that session and the show terminal command show the length 24, but as soon as I log out and log back in, it goes back to 0 and of course the show terminal command shows also 0

I believe the default should be 24, but this router is 0

Has any one experienced this before?

Also, here is the show terminal out put:

T-1# ter length 24

T-1#sh terminal

Re: Terminal Length Issue

Hello Reza,

Is it possible to see your "line vty" configuration? Also, what protocol did you currently use to access your 2821 - the telnet or the SSH? Is it possible to try a different terminal emulator software? It might be that your software client sends the terminal length in the session setup, overriding the default of 24 lines.

Best regards,

Peter

Re: Terminal Length Issue

Hi Reza,

Can you try using this in your configuration and testing it if it helps?

configure terminal

line vty 0 15 ! or whatever range you use

length 24

end

Re: Terminal Length Issue

Hi Peter,

I added this command before posting the issue here, but I just did it one more time and still the same. This command when added it to the line vty has the same effect, another word it is only good for that session.

Here is the output:

T-1#sh run | sec line

line con 0

login local

line aux 0

line vty 0 4

exec-timeout 60 0

privilege level 15

password cisco

login local

length 35

transport input telnet ssh

line vty 5 15

privilege level 15

password cisco

login local

length 35

transport input telnet ssh

Thanks,

Reza

Re: Terminal Length Issue

Hi Reza,

That's strange... Does it do the same when you log in using SSH?

Also, is it perhaps possible to try an upgraded version of IOS? It seems that the version you are using now has some identified issues so it might be useful upgrading it so or so.

Best regards,

Peter

Re: Terminal Length Issue

Hi Peter,

No luck here. I think, I am going to upgrade to a different version to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for your help

Reza
