hi..

As you know, When We configure the interface to mirroing destination interface, the show interface output like "line up, protocol down". Right?

generally, the interface protocols is down so the traffic didn't forward to any other destination. it didn't lookup the systme routing table.

the traffic goes from other station to mirroring destination interface, the packet is dropped that's interface.

but. in the mirroring destination interface, the inbound traffic is a little. this traffic will be dropped in port(mirroring destination interface)?

any thought?

The destination mirrored interface traffic can be viewed using a Sniffer . The destination interface to which the monitoring machine is connected will show the Line protocol down but still u can see incoming traffic coming onto the interface as input . I hope you are doing the Local SPAN only . Actually the traffic will not be dropped at the destination interface it is just passed if the Speed and Duplex for both the Source and Dest int are same .

Hope this helps .....
