AC or DC

Some Cisco switches do not have a power switch. To power cycle you need to just unplug it and plug it back in. Not sure why Cisco did that.

I have never seen a Cisco switch with a switch....what models have I missed?  Just curious....

I think the power supplys for the 6500s have a lever to flip, but thats the only one that comes to mind.

4500 series as well along with the MDS fabric switches...and there could be a couple more...not sure.

But for the most part most switches do not.

The 4500 series, 6500 series & nexus 7000 chassis all have power "switches" in their supplies which allow them to be turned off.

Mainly, I believe, because they use heavy-duty power cables held in by retaining brackets, and unplugging them can be a PITA.

Cheers.

Maybe Switches always work for a very long time,so no need for a power switch?

But routers like ASR1000,will also work until it can't work any more.

So why ,anyone can tell me?
