Too many static routes

I have routers with very many static routes, many of which I suspect are no longer needed. Is there some command that will show the number of matches for each "ip route" statement? cf. show access-list for matches of ACLs. Does anybody know any other trick to remove unnecessary static route statements? Thank you.

Re: Too many static routes

I do not know of any software that will do this, but I also had the same issue. what I did was to look at the routing table and one by one go over every static route defined and see if the routing table has entries for the subnets. If entries are listed then one by one remove the static routes and then test out if the routing protocol established the route to the specified subnet. It is a long and tedious job, but someone has to do it......Good Luck....
