Hello,

I setting up a network with multiple routers running ospf. all devices arer reachable and adjacencies are coming up ok.

However, when I issue a traceroute, I can see redudant hops as per the output below:

  1 172.16.0.9 4 msec

    172.16.1.9 0 msec

    172.16.0.9 0 msec

  2 172.16.1.3 0 msec <<<<<

    172.16.0.3 0 msec

    172.16.1.3 0 msec <<<<<

  3 192.168.0.9 4 msec 0 msec 0 msec

  4 192.168.0.1 0 msec

---------------------------------------------------

  1 192.168.1.10 0 msec  <<<<<<

    192.168.1.11 0 msec

    192.168.1.10 4 msec  <<<<<<

  2 192.168.1.22 0 msec *  0 msec

I've checked with and without cef and route cache and it did not make any difference.

If someone ever came across the same issue. I'd be interrested to understand why this is hapenning.

As it does not seem to be optimal routing.

Kind Regards,

Thibault.

Probably you have multiple equal-cost routes to the destination on your router.
