Traffic Mirroring for sniffer

I am trying to setup ethereal on my PC attaching to a 2950. Can the destination port that I plug into to sniff traffic be usable from my PC as well? Maybe I'm missing something.

Nope.

SPAN destination port will only transmit SPAN traffic to your PC.

Here is something I copied from config guide.

"No address learning occurs on the destination port." -- no mac-address-table will build based on incoming packet received on SPAN destination port.

Hi,

If I am not mistaken you want to send traffic from the PC as well as get the traffic from the monitoring port from Ethereal.

If this is what you want then its possible. Configuration for Ingress Traffic should be enabled for this.
